NERIST NEE 2023 – North Eastern Institute of Science & Technology

NERIST Entrance Exam 2023 – Also known as NERIST NEE, the North Eastern Institute of Science & Technology holds entrance exams for admission to a number of centres in the North Eastern States of India for a certificate, diploma, and degree programmes.

These are three different examinations known as NEE-I, NEE-II, and NEE-III for all three levels with the number of seats as given below:

NERIST Entrance Exam 2023 Eligibility

Educational Qualification

For NERIST NEE I

  • The ideal candidate will have passed the matriculation, Class X, or an equivalent test in Science and Mathematics under the 10+2 system.
  • Both science and mathematics should have been passed by the applicant.

Age Limits :

  • 19 as of the first day of the relevant August for general candidates, 24 for SC/ST/PH, 22 for OBC, and 19 for female candidates.

Note: The NERIST Entrance Examination is open to candidates who are taking the above-mentioned exam but whose results are still pending.

Important: The Principal of the school must provide a certificate to this effect, which must be included with the application. In the event that such a candidate is chosen, he or she must present the original pass certificate and mark sheet upon admission. If not, his or her entry will be automatically canceled.

 

For NERIST NEE-II

(a) For Engineering and Technology Stream

  • Aspiring applicants must possess either a NERIST Certificate, a 10+2 PCM/PCMB, a 10+2 Vocational in Electronics, Farm Machinery & Equipment, Electrical, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Automobile Technology, Structure & Fabrication Technology, or Electronics certification (E&T).
  • Candidates with NERIST certificates or 10+2 (Vocational) diplomas are eligible for admission to computer science and engineering programmes or to those programmes’ corresponding branches.
  • Candidates for the 10+2 PCM/PCMB programme must have earned separate passes in physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

(b) For the Forestry stream

  • They must have completed 10+2 PCB/PCMB, 10+2 (vocational in Forestry/Horticulture), or NERIST Certificate (Forestry)
  • 10+2 PCB/PCMB candidates should have passed in Physics, Chemistry & Biology separately.

Age Limits :

  • 23 as of 1st August of the respective year for the general category and 28 years for SC/ST/PH and 26 years for OBC and female candidates.

Note: Candidates who are taking the above-mentioned test, the results of which are pending, may also take the entrance exam.

Important: The Principal of the school or institution must provide a certificate to this effect, which must be included with the application. In the event that such a candidate is chosen, he or she must present the original pass certificate and mark sheet upon admission. If not, his or her admission will be instantly revoked.

 

For NERIST NEE III

  • Candidates for admission through NEE-III must have completed a three-year diploma programme from any government-recognized polytechnic in the relevant or a related discipline/branch with 60% overall, or NERIST Diploma Module.
  • Additionally eligible to apply are diploma holders in the associated disciplines/branches specified in the appendix.

Note: For consideration of provisional admission, candidates in the last year of the three-year diploma programme may also appear in NEE-III.

 

The admission to Degree Module in engineering is made in the following disciplines/branches:-

  • Agricultural Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Computer Science & Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics & Communication Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

Age Limits:

  • 40 years as of 1st August of the respective year for the general category and 45 years for SC/ST/PH and 43 years for OBC and female candidates.

 

Important: All provisional admissions will stand canceled if proof of having passed the final examination with the above-mentioned percentage is not submitted by the date of counseling.

 

NERIST Entrance Exam 2023 Pattern

The pattern of NEE 1

The NEE 1 exam consists of a single paper with 150-mark objective multiple-choice questions that must be answered in three hours.25% (1/4th) of the total marks assigned to each question’s incorrect response will be subtracted from the candidate’s final score.

The question paper will have four sections:

The pattern of NEE 2

The NEE2 exam consists of a single paper with 150-mark objective multiple-choice questions that must be answered in three hours.

25% (1/4th) of the total marks assigned to each question’s incorrect response will be subtracted from the candidate’s final score.

 

The question paper shall consist of four sections. The subjects and distribution of marks shall be as given below:

 

There shall be three different question papers for the two streams:

  • 10+2 PCM/PCB/PCMB
  • 10+2 Vocational (Technology) and
  • 10+2 Vocational (Forestry)

 

The format of the test for applicants with 10+2 PCM, PCB, or PCMB seeking admission to the diploma or degree modules in engineering or technology is as follows:

Sections A, B, C, and D make up the four sections that make up the question paper. All applicants for admission to the technical stream are required to take Sections A, B, and C.

All applicants who want to be admitted to the forestry stream must attempt Sections A, B, and D.

The format of the exam for 10+2 vocational applicants applying for admission to the diploma programme in engineering or technology is as follows:

Two sections, Section A and Section B, make up the question paper.

The questions in Section A, which is divided into subsections A-1, A-2, and A-3, will apply to all crafts and professions.

Questions of subsection B-1 will be common for all vocations/trades. Questions of sub-section B-2 will pertain to the relevant vocation/trade. The subjects and distribution of marks shall be as given below:

The format of the exam for 10+2 vocational applicants wishing to enrol in the degree programme in forestry is as follows: Two sections, Section A and Section B, make up the question paper. A-1, A-2, and A-3 are the three subsections that make up Section A.

Important: The questions of Physics and Chemistry shall be the same for 10+2 Vocational (Technology) and 10+2 Vocational (Forestry) candidates.

The pattern of NEE 3

The NEE3 exam consists of a single paper with 150-mark objective multiple-choice questions that must be completed in three hours.

25% (1/4th) of the total marks assigned to each question’s incorrect response will be subtracted from the candidate’s final score.

The question paper shall consist of four sections. The following list outlines the subjects and how points will be awarded:

Note: Questions of sections A, B & C will be common for all candidates, and of Section D will pertain to the relevant branch of engineering/technology.

Reservations of Seats are as follows

80% seats @ 10% each to eight N.E. states; 10% seats to All India other than N.E. Region; 7% seats on merit basis for PRC from N.E. states and 3% seats for PH with 40-75% locomotor disability.

NERIST Entrance Exam 2023 Dates

This exam is normally held in the month of April/May.

 

NERIST Exam 2023 Fees

 

  • For General/OBC Rs. 1000/- plus transaction charges
  • For ST/SC/PD Rs. 600/- plus transaction charges.

 

 

NERIST Entrance Exam 2023 Test Centres

NRIEST NEE entrance exam is conducted at various centers located in the eight states of the North East region of the country.
