The University of Burdwan, established in 1959 and founded on June 15, 1960, is a teaching and affiliating university in West Bengal. It offers 30 postgraduate programs and has 122 affiliated colleges (including degree colleges, B.Ed. colleges and private professional institutes) across five districts – Burdwan, Hooghly (excluding Srirampur sub-division), Birbhum, Bankura, and Purulia. The university’s administrative headquarters are located in the Bardhaman Maharaja’s Rajbati Palace, while its academic departments are situated in the Golapbag (Rose Garden) campus. The governor of West Bengal serves as the chancellor of the university.

As one of the top institutes of higher education in eastern India, the University of Burdwan provides higher education in a variety of subjects, including science, arts, management, law, commerce, fine arts and music, engineering and technology, and medicine through its affiliated undergraduate colleges. Burdwan University Facilities

A wide range of amenities are available to students at the University of Burdwan, Bardhaman. These amenities are offered to make sure that the students have a comfortable time while attending college. Individual dormitories for male and female students, a library with a large selection of books and e-resources, a canteen, and an auditorium are among the amenities offered by Burdwan University. The institution has a total of 11 hostels. On campus, the university has facilities for a number of sports. The university cafeteria offers a selection of meals and drinks. Boys Hostel – University of Burdwan hostel facilities include 6 separate hostels for boys. The cumulative accommodation capacity of the hostels is 951. These hostels are well-equipped with all items of basic facilities.

Girls Hostel – The institution includes 5 hostels specifically for female students, and they can all fit a sizable number of female students. The dormitories are kept tidy and have adequate room for students to live comfortably.

Except for university vacations and Sundays, the Central Library is open every day.

I.T Infrastructure – At the academic campus, the University has put in place a campus-wide Fibre Optic LAN with a Gigabit backbone (Golapbag). A grant worth Rs. 3100 will be given to undergraduate students who placed first and second and who are accepted into any postgraduate programme. The scholarship will only be available for two years, or the full length of a PG programme (no other grants will be available, and the scholarship will be awarded on a

The Burdwan University scholarship is offered to undergraduate students and ranges in monthly award from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 5000. the contestants with a minimum combined score of 75% (Best of five). Students who have passed the H.S. Examination or its equivalent examination and are enrolled in the first year of an undergraduate programme in engineering, medicine, general education, nursing, or paramedical diploma programmes under the auspices of the Directorate of Medical Education are eligible to apply. The Burdwan University provides financial aid for postgraduate study.Scholarship opportunities for graduate students (Rs. 2000 to Rs. 5000 per month). Candidates who are enrolled in the first-year class of a postgraduate course in general education or engineering and have earned at least 53% of the required marks in Honours subjects at the graduation level in general education (or 55% of the required marks in graduation level in Honours subjects for engineering students) are eligible to apply. The Indira Gandhi Single Girl Child Scholarship is also funded by the college, at a cost of around Rs. more than a year at 2,000 each month and graduate school.
